HXP lamps are short-arc lamps in which the discharge fires in an atmosphere of mercury vapour under high pressure. However, a cold lamp does not contain overpressure.  HXP lamps generate principally UV and visible light, including a significant portion of red light. Owing to the short arc and elliptical reflector they provide efficient light coupling into fiber-optic systems, and excel by way of their extremely long service life. The PT-VIP ballasts that are precisely aligned to the HXP lamps do not only ensure optimal operating conditions but offer additional functionalities for the according appliance.
